WINE COMPANION AWARDS.

2025 DARK HORSE WINERY + 2023 BEST NEW WINERY.

We released our first two wines in 2020 & submitted these wines to the 2023 James Halliday Wine Companion. We were chuffed when we got the call to inform us we were shortlisted for the "Best New Winery". A whirlwind experience with our first release. Two years later, and we have been nominated for the 2025 "Dark Horse Winery" of the year. We are on cloud nine!

PINOT NOIR- MORN. PEN

GOLD + SILVER MEDALS

Super fragrant and heady with lots of earthy tones; actually smells of whole-bunches, but don’t know if any were used in the fermentation, twigs and fresh herbs in the mix. The medium-bodied palate opens to morello and sweet red cherries, chinotto, rhubarb and blood orange and almost a saltiness within, which is appealing. Mouth-watering acidity and supple tannins, gee this is good.

CHARDONNAY- MORN. PEN

GOLD MEDALS

Powerful, rich and flavoursome, yet the mouth-watering acidity leads the race. Stone fruit and lemons, freshly sliced galangal and ginger, creamy lees and grilled nuts – the flavours build. The fuller-bodied palate is drenched in flavour, with concentrated sweet fruit, some phenolic grip to the finish and the acidity neatly putting everything in its place. Complex and very good.

ROSE- PYRENEES

SILVER MEDAL

Ah, rosé made with great intent: hand-picked shiraz, 50% whole bunches, fermented wild, aged six months in old barrels. It’s a bright, palish ruby hue full of cherries and summer berries and kirsch – quite complex flavours here. Savoury, perky acidity and a silkiness across the palate. There’s texture and a slip of sweetness on the finish of an otherwise dry wine. Tip-top drink.

SYRAH - PYRENEES

SILVER MEDALS

A gorgeous dark purple shot with red; a distinctive wine as there’s always black pepper in the mix, more so this vintage, alongside Aussie bush aromas, gunflint plus dark plums, cherry compote and more spice than a souk temple coming through on the palate. Fuller bodied with textural tannins, a hint of wintergreen and lively acidity to carry everything. Lovely.
